Over a series of dates in Summer 2017, my energising Yogagise Yoga sessions which are designed to calm the mind and strengthen the body will take place atop the fort which boasts breath-taking panoramic views across the waters to the Isle of Wight on one side and mainland UK on the other.
Having been to the fort already, I can tell you first-hand, that it’s an incredible experience just by simply being there. My journey from London to the fort was quick and easy, I took a direct train from London Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour (which took around one hour and 35 minutes), then I walked for five minutes to Gunwharf Quays, where a private boat then shuttled me across the Solent to the fort in just ten minutes.
On arrival, a chilled glass of Laurent Perrier champagne was waiting for me. The team at the fort are amazing, so welcoming, generous and full of stories about the history of the fort. Following a glass (or two) of bubbles, a grand historic tour of the fort (showing off the best of British military architecture and lovingly restored original artefacts) and a look at our gorgeous bedrooms, a buffet style lunch is served in the Crow’s Nest at the top of the fort. In the late afternoon, an hour of yoga takes place before a deliciously sweet Afternoon Tea. There is then time to relax (maybe take a dip in the open air hot tub!) before more champagne in the Victory Bar, and a mouth-wateringly good five course dinner in the Officer’s Mess. To finish the evening, there is a fire pit on the roof, which is great for toasting marshmallows on. The following morning, there is another yoga class before a sumptuous Fort breakfast before heading back to the mainland.
There is certainly no shortage of yoga, fantastic food, champagne (or smoothies for the super-healthy guests), history and space to relax. If you’re looking for a healthy staycation, which is unique and memorable, then this luxury mini-break is perfect for you!
The dates for Yogagise at Spitbank Fort are: Monday 26 June, Tuesday 11 July, Tuesday 25 July and Monday 7 August and costs from £975.00 for two people, per room. The overnight experience includes the return boat trip, champagne on arrival, lunch, two yoga sessions with me (afternoon and morning), healthy smoothies, a five course dinner in the Officer’s Mess and a full Fort breakfast the following morning.
