This weekend is a big one for yogis! The @OmYogaShow kicks off tomorrow in London! ❓Have you heard of #sophrology? I hadn’t until August this year when I met Dominique from @BeSophroLondon. Sophrology is the science of consciousness in harmony, it aims to create an alert mind in a relaxed body. That might sound a little vague, even fluffy nonsense, to some people. However, I am a big believer of and have firsthand experience using the power of the mind to change my habits & attitude. . ... 🚭 It’s embarrassing to admit but I was a heavy smoker in my twenties and after trying to quit the awful habit many times and in a multitude of ways, it was a hypnotherapy session which finally made me quit. Out of all the ways I tried to quit smoking, hypnotherapy was at the bottom of my list - I thought it was a load of cr*p! 🤷🏻‍♀️🔮 I honestly thought it was a con, that it wouldn’t work and I’d need to keep going back for more sessions... I couldn’t have been more wrong. The power of the mind plays a huge part in hypnotherapy working - therefore, I don’t think it will work for people who are not fully committed to their cause. . ... 💁🏻‍♀️ Following my positive experience with hypnotherapy, I’ve been much more open to other ‘alternative’ therapies. I went to see Dominique ahead of my @Yogagise ‘Summer In The City’ Yoga & Brunch event in August this year because no matter how much I had planned to ensure the day would run seamlessly (I’m a perfectionist when it comes to events!), inevitably, I still had some anxiety ahead of the event. Dominique showed me simple seated breathing & visualisation exercises, which can be done anywhere and in a matter of minutes, to help calm my energy & effectively prepare me for the big day, and... they really helped! I enjoyed hosting my event & all the catastrophising I’d been doing in my head was gone. So, I just want to give Dominique a big shoutout on here and for those of you who are interested in learning more about sophrology, please check out her book: The Life Changing Power of Sophrology.
